WELCOME TO THEMBEKA FILAS ! _________________________________________________________________ We are proud owners, promoters and breeders of the majestic Fila Brasileiro At Thembeka we have a great love and devotion for the Fila Breed, we strive to keep the Fila what they were originally meant to be. Protective, athletic, and agile, capable of working, hunting, hearding, and most importantly, loving you and your family - Which of course his family !! It is often overlooked just how much the Fila Brasileiro thrives on love and affection and how patient and loving they are with their family. They are our big lap dogs and make perfect companions ! Our Filas are not just dogs, but members of our family and we therefore take great pride in our dogs and puppies. Our Fila puppies at Thembeka are raised in a family environment and are healthy, happy pups when leaving here. All our puppies are up to date with their first inoculations and deworming when leaving for their new homes. Thembeka Filas make great family additions that are gentle, loving, loyal and very protective. The Fila Brasileiro is arguably the most beautiful and awesome of all the guardian dog breeds, with some characteristics not found in other breeds. You will often hear Fila owners and breeders say "they're not like other dogs!"

He is docile to his owners and family and extremely tolerant with children. His faithfulness became a Brazilian proverb (Faithful as a Fila). He is always looking for the company of his master. One of his characteristics is his distrust (ojeriza) of strangers. He shows a calm disposition, self assurance and self confidence, not being disturbed by strange noises or when facing a new environment, an unsurpassed guardian of the property. The Fila Brasileiro is a protective breed and needs a responsible owner. They are devoted to their families and are gentle and tolerant of children. Because of their loyalty to their family they do not like strangers. This is a serious guard dog, bonding with only its human family and no one else. Famously loyal to its master and very protective of its family. A Fila is a lifetime commitment, and is not a dog that can be easily transferred to a new owner at a later date. These dogs bond for life! A Fila Brasileiro is massive, well-boned and muscular, yet is surprisingly agile and fast for its size. The Fila possesses one of the most unique personality traits in the canine world, traditionally known as “Ojeriza”, most often described as distrust of strangers. The Fila Brasileiro excels at family and estate protection, hunting, tracking, cattle herding and even carting. A large and powerful dog, but don't let that fool you: the Fila is also extremely agile and athletic. It is not unheard of for a Fila to clear a six foot fence to defend their master. The protectiveness of the Fila is legendary. Yet they are a patient and gentle family dog with those they consider part of their family.
